About Marathon Therapy/Intensives
What is Marathon Therapy?
Marathon Therapy is an innovative form of therapeutic care that originates from Systemic Marriage and Family Therapy. The Marathon Model supports relational systems to achieve ‘second order change’ rather than focusing on the minutiae of everyday stressors. These intensives are immersive - a holistic opportunity for individuals and relationships to experience a therapeutic deep dive into a specific issue or concern.
Together we explore challenging patterns, traumas, and unhealthy cycles in your life story. We also identify your pleasures and enjoyments of life which bring wisdom as well! Our sessions are intense yet enjoyable, and you will leave every Intensive with an extensive list of evidence-based resources and effective interventions that are individually crafted to significantly enhance your life and relationships. If you’re willing and motivated to do the work to improve your life, this could be the therapeutic framework for you.
Typically, our work with be threefold and we will weave each of these in with one another in an intentional way:
1. Identifying stuck patterns and strengthening communication skills
2. Trauma therapy (EMDR)
3. Sex therapy
Marathon Therapy sessions range from 2 to 5 hours. In some cases, an intensive/MT session might be one 3 or 4 hour session once a month and in other cases we may meet for 2 hours every other week. Together we will determine the frequency of your intensives.
If 50-60 minute weekly therapy sessions barely scratch the surface for you, Marathon Therapy may be an ideal fit.
